Great Review Material

I have been out of school for quite some time and decided that I was going to go back to work on a degree while I worked. Since I've been out of school for so long but had to take the Accuplacer test I thought it might be a good idea to go through and get a refresher on all the stuff that I was sure I forgot about. Overall this book does a great job going through section by section on the different material that you will be tested on. It breaks down each subject and gives information on learning the material, and then also has review sections where you can test yourself. Even after over 15 years of being out of school, I still placed well beyond what I expected to after studying with this book for about 3 weeks before the test. I would highly recommend anyone taking the Accuplacer go through with this guide and study prior to taking the test. They give some decent process of elimination techniques for test taking that not everyone might be aware of, and also, some other generic test taking techniques that may help people with questions they are not sure of. The only addition I wish they had was a simulated Accuplacer test environment on the computer that you could do and then review what you missed and what sections to focus on. After reviewing this book, I got a perfect score on the reading comprehension, a 7/10 on the writing portion, a perfect score on the arithmetic, and entry level algebra comprehension, and a 62/120 on the college algebra comprehension placing me well enough to get out of taking a few below college level classes.

So far so good

So I needed a study guide for the accuplacer exam so I purchased this. I'm happy with my purchase. It's a great reference for the accuplacer exam. I only need the math portion of this book, so I can't comment on the reading, but I'm pretty satisfied. This study guide offers brief descriptions/definitions of the type of math problems you'll see on the exam, along with 1 example.
The only thing I don't like is this book is thin. It could use more (A LOT more) example problems for each math explanation. The only way you really get a math concept is by practice. However this is easily solved with a quick google search for practice problems in the math category you're reviewing (multiplying fractions, factors, exponents, square root etc) the URL for the videos are also really helpful if it's easier for you to watch someone explain it rather than just read it.
I'll update this review with my exam results.
-1 star because I think this book is kind of pricey for not offering more example problems.

I am very satisfied with this book

I am very satisfied with this book. I was really helped by the book. I graduated high school from overseas, so the book really help me to learn the mathematical vocabulary in English. The video also give a very useful additional information which is not presented in the book by giving an example or further explanation. The reading and writing tips are also helpful to increase my skill. I also really satisfied because there are practice test with answer key complete with the explanation. It helps me to understand and being familiar to the Accuplacer test.
